The Douglas Bearcats came to Powell on Saturday, where the Panthers won 56-31 to remain undefeated on their home court this season.

The Powell High School Lady Panthers faced off against the No. 1 team in the state at home Saturday, losing 53-32 to the Douglas Bearcats. With the win, Douglas now has an overall record of 11-0.

The Northwest College women’s basketball team christened the newly refinished Cabre Gym floor with an 86-59 victory over the Basketball Elite All-Star Alumni team on Saturday.

Coming off of winter break, the Powell High School swim team posted great times in back-to-back competitions, starting with a dual against Lander on Friday night. The Panthers finished only a handful of points behind the Tigers and then hosted the Gene Dozah Invitational, where the team finished second among the seven schools present.

The Lady Panthers basketball team competed in the Big Horn Basin Classic in Cowley over the weekend, finishing with a 2-1 record. The Lady Panthers downed Burlington 53-20 and Worland 56-36, but lost a heartbreaker to Greybull, 36-31.

The Panther basketball team finished 1-2 in the Friday-Saturday Big Horn Basin Classic in Worland.

The Powell High School winter break has concluded, with the boys swim team, girls basketball, boys basketball and wrestling teams resuming action on Friday.

Northwest College’s basketball and wrestling teams will resume play over the course of the next week, with each team beginning their conference schedules.

The Northwest College wrestlers hosted the National Junior College Athletic Association Rocky Mountain District Qualifier, qualifying nine individuals for nationals and placing first as a team.

The Powell High School tracksters battled the weather at the state track meet in Casper, bringing home 22 medals. To medal, one has to place in the top eight in the respective event.
