Assistant coaches named for Shrine Bowl

Posted

North all-star team coach Jim Stringer announced most of his assistant coaching staff for this summer’s Wyoming Shrine Bowl over the weekend. Joining the Powell head coach on the sidelines at Casper will be Panther assistant coach Richard Despain.

The North team will also be coached by Jon Vance of Kelly Walsh High School, Doug Hazen, coach of the 2A state champion Lovell Bulldogs, and Mike Aagard of Burlington High School. The coaching staff will add an assistant from the six-man football ranks at a later date.

The South team also named its coaching staff this past week. Cheyenne East head coach Chad Goff will serve as head coach for the summer classic. He tabbed Torrington’s Mark Lenhardt, Wheatland’s Scott Schultz, Pine Bluffs’ Will Gray and Little Snake River’s Mike Bates to assist.

Goff will also be joined by Cheyenne East assistant Kirk Nelson.

The respective coaching staffs will now assemble to begin the task of selecting players for the summer game. The Wyoming Shrine Bowl will take place June 9 in Casper. The annual event helps raise money for the nationwide network of Shriners’ Hospitals for Children.
