Northwest grad extends lead in world rankings

Call it home arena advantage.

After cutting his teeth as a member of the Northwest College rodeo team, Shane Proctor returned to Cody on Thursday night to capture the title in the Cody/Yellowstone stop of the Xtreme Bulls Tour. Proctor, who makes his home in Grand Coulee, Wash., turned in the highest scoring ride in the first round with an 87. To that, he added a 91-point performance on the last ride of the finals to score a comfortable five-point win over the field.

The Xtreme Bulls tour stop was the kickoff event for a holiday weekend of rodeo action at the Cody Stampede. Due to the holiday publication schedule, results from the 2011 Cody Stampede will appear in a later edition of the Powell Tribune.
