(Nov. 9, 1938 - April 17, 2002) John R. Clark of Winnett, Mont., father of a Powell woman, died Wednesday morning, April 17 at Deaconess Clinic in Billings, Mont., of pancreatic cancer. He was 63.He was born in Red Lodge, Mont., on Nov. 9, 1938, a son to Erwin and Martha Clark. He was raised on the family ranch at Luther and educated in Luther and Red Lodge. Following his graduation from Carbon County High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served in the Pacific Theater as a radar man on the USS Hollister. Following his honorable discharge he returned to the family ranch.He married Georgia Straight on July 25, 1961 in Red Lodge. Together they worked the family ranch. In 1993, they sold their ranch in Luther and started ranching in the Winnett area.Mr. Clark loved to hunt and fish, but he especially loved to preach.Survivors include his wife, Georgia; daughter Shannon Baker and her husband Daniel of Powell; three sons; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.Cremation has taken place, and a Praise the Lord Celebration Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Church of Christ, 10th St. and Alderson Ave. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Roundup Church of Christ, P.O. Box 805, Roundup, MT 59072 or to Big Sky Hospice, P.O. Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107.
