Tribune photo by John Wetzel Hetzel, Sleep win eventsLori Hetzel captured first place in the girls' junior varsity discus and shot put while the Panthers' Vince Sleep finished atop the boys' JV discus field as the teams began their year at the Yellowstone Sports Medicine meet in Cody on Saturday. While Hetzel grabbed the only two event victories for the Powell girls, teammate Breann Hollenbeck finished in the top six in four different events. Hollenbeck's top finish came in the long jump, where she placed second. Alyssa Hildebrand, Tess Mitchell and Cassidy Lynn also scored points for the Panther girls

On the boys' side of the competition, Sleep's discus toss of 119'6”, which would have been good enough for fifth place in the day's varsity competition, was the only winning performance of the day. Teammate Marco Borja added a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200 and 400-meter races.

Regan Soloai turned in three top-eight performances at the meet. His best of the day came in the discus, where he finished in third place, eight feet in back of Sleep in the standings. Cameron Bennett and Tyson Thompson also scored points in two events for the Panthers.

Kyle Woodward, Andrew Feller and Kyle Anderson also scored points for the Panthers.

In the overall JV team standings, Powell's girls placed third. The Panther boys were fourth at the early-season meet.
