Dahlgren became the fourth member of the Pioneers to choose to continue playing baseball at the college level this fall and the second in less than a week. Teammate Grant Geiser, who had also received an offer from Oklahoma Panhandle, chose to sign with Dakota Wesleyan University. “It's the school I graduated from,” said Pioneers' coach Mike Jameson. “It'll provide him with some good opportunities to improve as a player.”Dahlgren served as the Pioneers' clean-up hitter consistently throughout the season. He finished with a team-leading 73 RBI's this summer while carrying a .359 batting average for the season. Dahlgren fanned just 25 times in 223 at-bats and ranked among the team's leaders with 18 doubles. Defensively, Dahlgren turned in a number of stellar plays from the hot corner, perhaps the most memorable being a leaping stab of a ground ball and laser-like throw across the diamond to help preserve Powell's one-run win over the Casper Oilers in this year's district championship game. He was also 4-2 as a pitcher on the mound with a team-leading five saves during his final summer of Legion eligibility. Dahlgren joins Geiser, Gianluca Giarrizzo and Scotty Jameson as members of the Pioneers' organization to sign letters of intent this season. Oklahoma Panhandle is an NCAA Division II program that plays in the eight-team Heartland Conference. The Aggies will be looking to bounce back after a difficult 1-47 season last spring.
