Powell Golf Club hosts Pro-Am tournament

On Tuesday, the Powell Golf Club hosted the Rocky Mountain Section Professional Golf Association Pro-Am tournament — with teams from across the region coming to compete.

Placing first with a score of 186 was a team of locals: Dick Fisher, Brad Hammond, Brock Frates, Tracy Copenhaver and West Hernandez.

Two teams tied for second, with a score of 196: Chris Lien, Doug Jensen, Rocky McLean, Joe Hicks and Jeff Allen and Ray Acker, Rich Olmsted, Andrew Severinsen, Mike Bohlman and Powell Golf Club Pro Chris Jones.

Taking fourth were J.D. Broadbent, Michael Songer, Randy Holm, Jay Laurent and Bryan Madill Jr. with a score of 198.

In the regular professional division, Jeff Allen — PGA Assistant Professional at Hilands Golf Course in Billings — won with a six-under round of 66, followed by a 70 from Eddie Kavran, the head professional at Hilands.

Hernandez posted the low gross score in the top amateur flight, firing a seven-under-par 65. Lien took second with a 71.

In the second flight, Ryan Venable emerged on top with a round of 74, followed by Jerry Herweyer, with an 80, and Nathan Marston, with an 81.

The third flight was won with a gross score of 80 by Mike Foulger, followed by John MaGraw at 81.

The fourth flight was taken by Bill Huyser’s 82. Mike Dusenberry finished second with an 88.

As for net scores, the first flight was a four-way tie between Hammond, Bohlman, Madill and Tyler Roberts, who all had scores of 68.

The second flight also had a tie for first place, with net scores of 69 from both Fisher and Broadbent. Keith Tubergen took third with a 70.

The third flight had a low net score of 67 from Laurent, followed by John Hancock with a 70.

In the fourth flight, Andrew Severinsen won with a net score of 68; placing second was Tracy Copenhaver with a 71.

The tournament comes to the Powell Golf Club once a year.
