Recent Powell High School graduates Kalei Smith and Carter Baxter have been chosen to represent the North on the boys basketball squad.
In light of a down year for the Panther boys, Smith and Baxter were among the top players in Class 3A basketball this season. Smith, a guard, and Baxter, a forward-center hybrid, will be among nine players on the North team.
Despite winning the Class 3A state championship last season, no Lady Panthers will represent PHS on the girls North team. However, PHS girls head coach Scott McKenzie and assistant coach Troy Hildebrand will coach the team along with Riverton coach Ron Porter.
Jenni Ebersberger, PHS girls basketball’s lone senior last winter, will instead represent the Lady Panthers on the North’s volleyball squad as one of 12 players chosen.
Players for all teams are chosen by a committee of high school coaches.
