Powell Golf League: Good Old Boys
Game of the week: Odd and Even
Date: April 14
In week one of the Good Old Boys league play at the Powell Golf Club, Craig Zibell, Jerry Scheafer, Ray Nelson and Lloyd Snyder captured a victory with a low score of 138.
Dave Frost, Jim Woodie, Howard Whitlock and Jerry Johns placed second with a 144. A score of 146 from Tony Waller, Bob Parsons, Manuel Briseno and Bob Mason was good for third, while Mike Hernandez, Larry Hedderman, Jerry Linsdau finished fourth with a 161. Mason’s score was drawn at random and added to the fourth place team’s total.
Zibell earned the low gross of the day with a score of 74, and Briseno shot a 66 to win the low net.

Date: April 21
In week two of the Good Old Boys league play at the Powell Golf Club, there was a first-place tie as two teams posted scores of 69.5. Bob Mason, Greg Zibell, Mike Hernandez and Howard Whitlock deadlocked with Steve Rickert, Jim Turk, Paul Devoss and Ron Rickert. The third place team of Tom Bibbey, Bob Parsons, Manuel Briseno and Ray Nelson shot an average of 70. Fourth place went to Larry Hedderman, Jerry Linsdau with a draw of Bob Parsons and Ron Rickert after the team totaled a 70.25. In fifth place Bob Murphy, Tony Waller, Jim Woodie and Jerry Johns averaged a 76.5.
Zibell fired a 68 for the low gross of the day, and tied Whitlock for the low net with a 65. Hedderman and Rickert recorded deuces on the No. 4 hole, while Zibell collected one on hole 17.
Hole in one: On Monday, Ross Albin, of Powell, fired a hole-in-one on the par 3 hole No. 4.
