Powell junior bowlers third at state tournament

Posted

A team of Powell youth bowlers placed third at the Wyoming Junior Travel League State Bowling Tournament in Casper April 12-13.

The foursome of Ty Whiteman, Colton Johannsen, Machanzy Schneider and Nikkole Schneider competed against 47 other teams from around the state in the two-day event held at El-Marko Lanes.

After rolling five games on Saturday, the Powell team sat in sixth place, but a few adjustments helped the foursome make a move to third during Sunday’s six games.

Whiteman and both Schneiders have been bowling together for seven years. Johannsen joined the squad two years ago.

Whiteman and Nikkole Schneider were selected for both the 2012 and 2013 Youth All-State teams while Machanzy Schneider was named to the team in 2013.

Machanzy Schneider and Whiteman are both seniors at Powell High School and will be unable to participate in youth bowling beyond this year, but still expect to stay active in the sport.

The team is coached by Dave Pollock, whom the team thanks for his inspiration, confidence and knowledge.
