Five Powell wrestlers place at the Montana Open last weekend

Four Powell High School wrestlers and one Powell Wrestling Club member placed at the Montana Open at the Rimrock Auto Arena in Billings Saturday and Sunday.

Sophomore Chance Karst took second at 132 pounds, junior Colton Parham finished third at 138 pounds, senior Jacob Davis was fourth at 170 pounds and senior Rowdy Gard placed fifth in the heavyweight division.

Seventh-grader Reese Karst was the runner-up at 116 pounds in the 15-and-under division.

Cody Seifert won the 55-pound class in the Bantam division and Judah Ewers was first at 87 pounds in Intermediate.

Five Powellites were runners-up.

Tanner Seifert (40 pounds, Peewee), Braxton Batt (45 pounds, Peewee), Owen Petty (60 pounds, Bantam), Keona Wisniewski (65 pounds, Bantam) and Brady Fossen (55 pounds, Intermediate) all took second in their respective classes.

Rayce Degraffenreid took third in the 50-pound Bantam class and Trevion Solberg did the same at 60 pounds in Bantam.

Colton Bitton (45 pounds, Peewee), Casen Gines (55 pounds, Bantam) and Logun Badura (55 pounds, Bantam) each finished in fourth place.

Finishing fifth was Colton Neilsen (45 pounds, Bantam), Case Bradish (60 pounds, Intermediate) and Christen Nielsen (75 pounds, Intermediate).

Lane Coble (50 pounds, Bantam), Zane Butler (55 pounds, Bantam) and Jacob Eaton (60 pounds, Bantam) took sixth.

The Powell Wrestling Club competed in two tournaments on March 22.

Seth Horton and Tonka Lytle competed in the Ironman Challenge in Gillette while 18 other PWC grapplers went to a folkstyle tournament in Thermopolis.

Horton and Lytle competed in three styles of wrestling at the Ironman Challenge.

Horton took second place in the Novice division of freestyle (95-105 pounds), folkstyle (95-100 pounds) and was third in the Novice division of Greco-Roman at 95-105 pounds.

Lytle was fourth at 75 pounds in the Novice division of freestyle.

The PWC placed eight of its 18 wrestlers in Thermopolis, including five champions.

Tanner Seifert (40 pounds, Peewee), Degraffenreid (50 pounds, Bantam), Cody Seifert (55 pounds, Bantam), Stetson Davis (87 pounds, Intermediate) and Colt Nicholson (70 pounds, Schoolboy) were all tops in their class.

Petty (65 pounds, Bantam) and Bradish (60 pounds, Intermediate) took third and Solberg (55 pounds, Bantam) took fourth.
