Powell Middle School track tops in Cowley

The Powell Middle School track teams each excelled at the Rocky Mountain Quad meet in Cowley Saturday.

The girls and boys combined for the meet’s top team score, and several Cubs won their events.

All three eighth-grade girls relay teams took first, as did five individual girls across eight events.

JuliaKay O’Neill took first in the 1600-meter run (6:13.66) and the long jump (15 feet, 2 inches), Maddy Hanks’ won both the 75-meter hurdles (13.48) and 200-meter hurdles (33.42), McKenna Hanson won the 200-meter dash with a time of 31.65, Kooper Stringer was the best in discus with a throw of 68 feet, 1 inch and she tied with her sister Kodi Stringer in shot put, in which each Stringer threw 25 feet, 2 inches.

Hanson finished second in the 200-meter hurdles (35.21 seconds) and third in the triple jump (28 feet, 8 and three-quarters inch).

Kodi Stringer was the runner-up in discus with a toss of 66 feet, 5 and one half inches, third in 75-meter hurdles with a time of 13.84 and was sixth in the 200-meter run with a time of 33.62.

Emma Andreasen was second in both the 800- (3:16) and 1600-meter (7:19.84) runs.

Emily Sweet was second in the 400-meter run (1:15.90), third in the 200-meter hurdles (38.52) and sixth in the 75-meter hurdles with a time of 17.75.

Aspen Aguirre was the runner-up in the high jump (4 feet, 3 inches) and sixth in both the 200-meter run (33.62) and long jump (11 feet, 8 and one-half inches).

Dagne Stratton took third in the 400-meters with a time of 1:16.84.

Sydney Horton was third in the 800-meters (3:21) and sixth in the triple jump (24 feet, 10 inches).

Leena Gard placed third in both the shot put (19 feet, 7 and one-half inches) and the high jump (4 feet, 1 inch).

Mariah Phister was third in the high jump with a mark of 4 feet, 1 inch.

Hanks took fifth in the high jump (3 feet, 9 inches).

Reilly Decker was fifth in shot put (14 feet, 9 and one-half inches) and sixth in discus (33 feet, 7 and one-half inches).

The eighth-grade boys took first in the 800- and 1600-meter relays and were runners-up in the 400-meter relay.

A.J. Lewis sprinted his way to two first-place finishes. Lewis won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.58 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.43. He also took fourth in the long jump (14 feet, 1 inch) and the triple jump (30 feet).

Brooks Asher was the boys’ top thrower. He finished first in the shot put (35 feet, 3 inches) and discus (95 feet, 3 inches).

Eyob Robirds won the 800-meter run in 2:36 and was second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:46.69.

Antonio Garza won the 75-meter hurdles with a time of 13.04 and was second in both the 400-meter run (1:02.66) and 200-meter hurdles (31.27).

Shay Dillon’s throw of 85 feet, 5 inches was good for second in the discus. He was sixth in shot put (29 feet).

Aaron Smith placed third in the 800-meter run (2:44) and was sixth in the 400-meter run (1:09.43) and 1600-meter run (6:16.81).

Jesse Erickson’s time of 6:04.91 was third-fastest in the 1600-meter run.

Charlie Hall’s 5-foot high jump earned him fourth place and his throw of 81 feet, 4 inches was good for fifth in discus.

Kacey Creed was fourth in the 75-meter hurdles (14.02) and sixth in the 200-meter dash (31.87).

Hauk Tuttle took fifth in the 400-meter run (1:07.06) and sixth in discus (76 feet, 10 inches).

The seventh-grade girls took first in the 4x100 and 4x400 relay and second in the 4x200 relay.

Caitlyn Miner took first in the 200-meter hurdles with a time of 35.81. She also placed second in the 75-meter hurdles (16.11), the long jump (11 feet, 5 inches) and was fifth in the 200-meter run (33.30).

Rachel Bonander won the discus with her throw of 62 feet, 10 and one-half inches. She took third in shot put (19 feet, 3 and one-half inches) and in high jump (4 feet).

Sierra Sanders was second in both the shot put (19 feet, 7 and one-half inches) and discus (53 feet, 6 and three-fourths inches) and was third in the 75-meter hurdles (16.16 seconds) and 200-meter hurdles (38.65).

Abi Cubbage was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.01 seconds and placed fourth in the 75-meter hurdles with a time of 16.37.

Gabri Lundberg took second in the high jump with a mark of 4 feet, 4 inches.

Jacque Leonhardt finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.49 second and was sixth in the long jump with a mark of 10 feet, 5 and one-half inches.

Mollie Kissner finished third in the triple jump (23 feet, 2 inches), fourth in the 200-meter dash (33.27 seconds) and fifth in the 75-meter hurdles (16.81).

McKennah Buck placed third in the discus (52 feet, 5 and three-fourths inches) and sixth in the high jump (3 feet, 8 inches).

Rylee Ramsey was fourth in the long jump (10 feet, 10 and one-half inch) and fifth in the high jump (3 feet, 10 inches).

Coby Calcote was fifth in the shot put with her mark of 18 feet, 10 and one-half inches.

McKenzie Thompson was sixth in both the shot put (17 feet, 9 inches) and discus (46 feet, three-fourths inches).

Kourtney Rowton’s jump of 20 feet, 1 inch was good for sixth place in the triple jump.

The seventh-grade boys swept the relays and took seven individual events.

Dalton McMillan was first in the 400-meter run (1:09) and the discus (79 feet, 1 inch). He also took third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 31.55.

Paulino Perez won the 100-meter dash (14.08 seconds), took third in the 400-meter run (1:13) was fourth in the 200-meter dash (32.9) and sixth in the 75-meter hurdles (15.11).

Jacob Harrison won the 200-meter dash with a time of 30.02 and finished third in the 100-meter dash (14.52).

Alan Merritt won the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:29.47, was fourth in the 800-meter run (2:58) and fifth in the 400-meter run (1:17).

Carter Olsen won the shot put with a throw of 25 feet, 2 inches, and was third in discus with a mark of 68 feet, 7 inches. He also took fifth in the 200-meter dash (33.01).

Brinson Cozzens’ time of 13.24 was good for first in the 75-meter hurdles.

Joe Rogers wracked up three second-place finishes. He was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash (14.14), 400-meter run (1:11) and 800-meter run (2:49).

Colton Johannsen was the runner-up in the 1600-meter run (6:38.47) and sixth in the 400-meter run (1:24).

Kanyon Gann took second in the long jump (13 feet, one-fourth inch), fourth in the 75-meter hurdles (14.52) and fifth in the 100-meter dash (14.9).

Colby Warner placed third in the high jump with his mark of 4 feet, 5 inches.

Cameron Lamb’s toss of 20 feet, 3 inches placed him third in shot put.

Wyatt Decker was fourth in the 1600-meter run (7:32.81) and sixth in the 800-meters (3:13).

Alex Christensen cleared 4 feet, 5 inches to finish fourth in the high jump.

Reece Hackenberg was fifth in both the triple jump (27 feet, 3 and one-half inches) and discus (54 feet).

DiMaggio Hamilton-Kapptie was fifth in shot put (18 feet, 1 and one-half inch) and sixth in discus (53 feet, 4 inches).

Aidan Hunt was fifth in the 75-meter hurdles (14.84) and Austin Chandler was sixth in the 1600-meter run (9:21.28).
