Heart Mountain annual hike set for this Saturday

Posted

Are you up for a 7-mile outing?

The Heart Mountain Community hike will take place Saturday, June 8, sponsored by Nature Conservancy.

Along for the hike will be experts who can illuminate on some of the lesser-known facts about the mountain’s unique geology, plant and animal life, and the management of this local landmark. Hikers will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Heart Mountain Ranch headquarters, where coffee and doughnuts will be provided. Powell Valley Healthcare will provide extra water and granola bars halfway up the trail.

Participants should bring water, their own lunch, sunscreen and clothing for inclement weather. Be prepared for a full day outdoors and a strenuous uphill/downhill hike of approximately 7 miles roundtrip if you choose to summit the mountain.

Anyone who wants to enjoy the outdoors and learn something new about Heart Mountain or nature in general is welcome. You can hike for as long or short as you choose.

Please leave your dogs at home.

For more information, call the ranch office at 754-8446.
