On the hardwood, Bjorhus is a three-time all-conference selection who was named the conference’s player of the year as both a junior and as a senior. She was recognized as the Casper Star-Tribune’s small school player of the year following a junior season in which she averaged just shy of 17 points per contest. She was also a two-time all-state selection at the Class 2A ranks.
“I am so excited to have Dana join our team,” said Trapper head coach Janis Beal. “She can shoot (3-pointers) well, has a good mid-range jumper and can also get to the rim.”
Bjorhus, who will be listed as a 5-8 guard on the Trappers’ roster, is also a versatile athlete. She is a two-time all-state volleyball selection and was the 2012 conference player of the year in that sport for Thermopolis. She was a state medalist in the pole vault, long jump, triple jump and the 4x400 relay last season and has previously medaled at state in the 100 meters as well. She was the 2A state runner-up in the triple jump last season, her third season medaling in the event,
Bjorhus also finished third in Class 2A in the long jump at last year’s state track and field championships.
“Dana is a very successful multi-sport athlete,” said Beal. “Not only that, but she is a great student.”
Bjorhus currently carries a 3.97 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society at Thermopolis High School.
“I always enjoy adding talented athletes from our local area,” said Beal. “It will be fun for people who followed her during her high school career to continue watching her here at Northwest.”
