Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Sept. 6 in the Byron LDS Church for
Kenneth Glenn Goller, 50, who died peacefully at his home in Byron Friday,
Sept. 2 following a three-year battle with multiple myeloma.
He was born Oct. 19, 1954, in Hardin, Mont., the oldest child of Donald and
Ruth (Ferrell) Goller. He soon was joined by two sisters, Donna and Linda,
whom he enjoyed teasing throughout their childhood.
He graduated from Powell High School in 1972. Later he earned his Associate
of Science degree from Northwest College. He held various jobs from guiding
to roughnecking before settling in Byron and serving the Town of Byron for
over 20 years.
He loved the outdoors and spent much of his leisure time hunting, reloading,
shooting, gunsmithing, trapping, fishing and exploring the neighboring mountains.
He particularly loved the Beartooths. He liked Ruby with him on all his excursions,
and she would follow him anywhere. He was sure the skyline was somewhat shortened
from all the tracks he made.
Ken’s daughter, Malia, introduced him to the love of his life, Ruby,
and they were married Sept. 1, 2000. One year later Eli McDaniel Goller was
born, joining big sister, Malia Beth (Goller) McClure, and brothers, Trevor
Odell and Tyrell Paul Humphreys. He rejoiced in being sealed to all his family
in the Billings Montana Temple.
He loved his family and was a true patriarch, who loved the Lord with all his
heart. He enjoyed serving Him and spent many hours fulfilling his church callings.
He was loved by many and will be remembered and loved still by many. His lifelong
friends were an essential part of his life. He enjoyed enumerable adventures
with them and loved them dearly. He left friends and family with many memories,
a few legends and countless tall tales.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby; sons Eli and Ty of the family home and Trevor
of Fossil, Ore.; daughter Malia (Kyle) McClure and granddaugher Hailee of Lovell;
parents Don and Ruth Goller of Powell; and sisters Donna Goller and Linda (Mark)
Lynn of Powell. He is also beloved by many aunts, uncles, in-laws, nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Paul and Marie Goller and James
and Almira Ferrell.
Services were under the direction of Haskell Funeral Home.
Bernice Jackson Regester - September 3, 2005
Former Powell resident Bernice (Yates) Jackson Regester died in Tempe, Ariz.,
on Saturday, Sept. 3. She was 82.
She was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Apperson, Okla., to Hubert (Shorty) Yates and
Dillie Mae Wells Yates. She married Hugh (Pete) Jackson in June, 1941.
To this union were born a son, Donald, and a daughter, Sherrie. They lived
in various areas of Oklahoma and then Powell, Byron and Casper.
After her husband died in December of 1986, she moved to Arizona to be by family
members. She met and married Lyle Regester in October, 1991.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherrie (Gary) Wilder; her grandchildren, Dave
(Twyla) Jackson and Gary D. (Sandy) Wilder and Angela (Mark) Canevit; and nine
great-grandchildren. She is also surved by her brother, Leon Yates, and sisters,
Joy Cottrell and Marie Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hugh (Pete) Jackson and Lyle Regester;
a son, Donald Jackson; her parents; and a brother, Howard Yates.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
LaVon Kolstad - September 4, 2005
Funeral services for LaVon Peace Hawley Kolstad were held at Crown Hill Cemetery
in Powell Wednesday, Sept. 7. She died Sunday, Sept. 4 at St. John’s
Lutheran Home in Billings at the age of 87.
She had resided at the Billings home since Oct. 4, 1999.
She was born Nov. 9, 1918, in Powell to William Hawley and Sarah May Hawley.
She was the youngest of seven children and was born and raised on William Hawley's
farm.
She graduated from Powell High School in 1936 and then went on to attend Denver
Business College, graduating in 1938. She married Myron Kolstad on Jan. 1,
1939. LaVon spent four years living in San Fransisco while Myron served in
World War II.
Following the war, they moved back to Powell, and in 1947 they purchased Lucier
Studio where they developed and sold photos of Yellowstone National Park. They
operated the studio until 1958 when LaVon went on to work as a bookkeeper and
bank teller at several locations around Powell, including Moyer's Drug, Fryer's
Pharmacy, Kopriva's Hardware, New York Life, First National Bank, American
National Bank and Powell Office Supply.
LaVon was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church, and she also belonged
to and was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member
of the Ladies Auxiliary of Fraternal Order of Eagles and the B.P.W. Does in
Cody. She loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed fishing and big game hunting.
She is survived by her only son, Armand L. Kolstad of Billings, daughter-in-law
Kim, and granddaughter Katie; her nieces and nephews, Maynard Hawley, John
Hawley, Larry Hawley, Nona Andersen and Janice Harrison, Evelyn Bygren and
Charlotte Thoroughgood, Ralph Robert Hawley, Jim Gribble and Connie Lapp.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Hawley and Sarah A. Mays
Hawley; her three brothers, Ward Hawley, Guy Hawley and Ralph Hawley; her three
sisters, Hazel Gribble, Veva Sedwick and Cecile Edwards; nieces Karen Nerlin,
Helen White and Joyce Christinsen; along with her husband, Myron, who died
in March of 1975.
Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer
Society or the Union Presbyterian Church.
Robert Cauffman - September 5, 2005
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Burlington LDS Church
for Robert (Bob) William Cauffman, 90, who died Monday, Sept. 5 at the Bonnie
Bluejacket Memorial Nursing Home between Basin and Greybull.
He was born June 5, 1915, at Enders Lake, Nebr., to Charles Clifford and Winnifred
Alice (McMullen) Cauffman. He moved with his family to the Big Horn Basin approximately
in 1920.
He married Glena Dora Nicholson Oct. 21, 1933, in Billings, Mont.
He was a farmer, rancher, miner, contractor and mechanic for most of his life
which was spent on his farm at Burlington. One of his greatest loves was going
to the auction. The name “Cauffman” in the German language means “the
Buying Man,” which so fit Bob.
He was a member of the LDS Church at Burlington.
Survivors include three sons, Robert William (Diane) Cauffman, Jr., and Kenneth
Raymond (Marlea) Cauffman of Burlington and Charles Roger (Ilene) Cauffman
of Powell; four daughters, Darlene Gay Thomas of Greeley, Colo., Sandra Lee
House of Burlington, Alice Charlene (Charles) Raper of Natoma, Kans., and Carol
Elaine (Wayne) Sparks of Burlington; 24 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren
and seven great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Glena in 1998; his son, Richard
Dale Cauffman, in 1953; his brother, Gerald Cauffman; his two sisters, Mildred
June Spens and Millicent Cressie Carnell; one grandchild, Wes Lee House in
1972; and one son-in-law, Merle House.
Burial was in the Burlington Cemetery.
JoyAnn Brandt - September 8, 2005
Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at the First
Methodist Church in Powell for JoyAnn Evelyn Northy Brandt, 78, Powell, who
died Thursday, Sept. 8 in Billings from complications following surgery.
She was born Nov. 23, 1926, in Red Lodge, Mont., to Matthew Thomas and Hilda
Regina (Hyvonen) Northy. She attended school in Red Lodge and graduated from
high school in Berkeley, Calif., in 1944.
She completed beauty school in Oakland, Calif., graduating in 1946 following
her marriage to Ernest (Bud) H. Brandt on Feb. 1, 1946, in Berkeley. In 1949,
they moved to Billings, Mont. Bud’s work took them to Canada. They eventually
moved back to Billings and took over the family dairy farm on Hallowell Lane.
In 1960, they moved to Powell. Joy had her own beauty shop in the home Bud
built on the Willwood Highway. Joy was an excellent bowler and a terrific dancer.
She was active in the DOES and Eagles Auxiliary.
The love of her life was tragically taken from her in an accident on May 30,
1990. On Nov. 3, 1990, she suffered a stroke. She lived in Powell until 2000,
then moved in with her dear friend, Marie Larsen, in Billings. Joy and Marie
traveled many places together and enjoyed their adventures to the fullest.
Survivors include her daughter, Terri (David) Williams of American Fork, Utah;
her sons, Larry Brandt of Wright and Kelly (Annie) Brandt of Powell; a sister,
Regina Haggerty of Orangevale, Calif.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Bud Brandt, in 1990;
her son, William (Billy) in 1951; her parents; her sister, Jannett Marjorie
Rae Boggio; and her brothers, Thomas and Bill Northy.
It is Joy’s request that memorial contributions be made to the victims
of the tornado disaster in Wright in care of Campco Credit Union, P.O. Box
360, Wright, WY 82732.
Cremation has taken place.
George Warren Paumer - September 13, 2005
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Sept. 19 at the United Methodist
Church in Basin for lifelong Big Horn Basin resident, George Warren Paumer,
78, who died Tuesday, Sept. 13 at his home in Basin.
A viewing will be held Sunday, Sept. 18 at the Atwood Family Funeral Chapel
in Basin from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will follow Monday services at the Mount View
Cemetery in Basin with full military rites.
He was born March 23, 1927, in Basin, son of Joseph Albert and Anna Katherine
(Christiansen) Paumer. He graduated from Basin High School and attended college
in Powell, later transferring to the University of Wyoming at Laramie.
He served his country with pride and honor in the U.S. Army during World War
II and the Korean Conflict. George was so proud of his grandson, Jeremy, now
serving his country in Iraq.
He married Jean Sand July 2, 1950, in Powell.
George enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports.
He enjoyed ranching, riding horses in the mountains, pushing cows and working.
He was a member of the Methodist Church in Basin and was a member of the Eagles
Lodge in Basin and the Elks Lodge in Greybull. He was a member of the Tanner
Post No. 29 of the American Legion at Basin.
He served on the Manderson/Hyattville school board for several years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Jean, in Basin; his three sons,
Rich (Lynn) Paumer of Ogallala, Nebr., Steve (Kim) Paumer of Worland and Dave
(Sheila) Paumer of Hyattville; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren;
his brother, Stan (Louise) Paumer of Moorpark, Calif., and numerous nieces
and nephews.

split between the Riverside High School Booster Club and the Paintrock FFA.
F. Hugh Arnett - September 14, 2005
F. Hugh Arnett, 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 14 at his home in Cody.
He was born July 31, 1924, in Shell to Warren and Mary (Ruddy) Arnett. His
early schooling was in Shell, and then he attended and graduated from Greybull
High School. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, serving
in the South Pacific during World War II. He was discharged a Pharmacist
Mate 1st Class on Dec. 22, 1945.
Following his discharge he lived for a time in Oakdale, Calif., before returning
to Wyoming. He worked in the construction industry, and in 1970, he began working
for West Park Hospital and became director of maintenance and engineering.
During this time he oversaw the building of the Long Term Care Center. He retired
in 1985.
He later assisted in maintenance at Glacier View Hospital in Kalispell, Mont.
He was dedicated to the Yellowstone Boys Ranch. He enjoyed hunting, ranching
and spending time with his family. He was an avid book reader.
Survivors include his wife Joan of the family home; children Crystal Arnett
of Denver and Col. Michael Hamilton (retired) and wife Becky of Madison, Ala.;
two grandchildren, one nephew and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Phillip.
Cremation has taken place, and in accordance with his wishes, no services will
be held. Should friends desire, memorials to Yellowstone Boys Ranch would be
appreciated by the family. Arrangements were handled by Ballard Funeral Home.
Marie Ries Feeley Murray - September 15, 2005
Memorial services will be conducted today (Thursday, Sept. 22) at 10:30 a.m.
at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody for Marie Ries Feeley Murray, 90, who died
Friday, Sept. 15 at West Park Long Term Care Center in Cody.
She was born Jan. 29, 1915, to John P. and Mary Ries in Oak Park, Ill. She
was the youngest of four brothers and one sister. The family moved to Wyoming
and homesteaded southeast of Powell before Marie was a year old. She grew up
on the family farm and attended school in Powell, graduating from Powell High
School in 1932.
She returned to Illinois where she graduated from Western Suburban School of
Nursing in Oak Park in 1938. She then came back to Wyoming where she began
her lifelong career as a nurse, starting in the Powell school system and working
intermittently for Park County’s Wyoming Department of Health. In 1951,
she began her full-time career as Park County Public Health Nurse.
One of her most memorable accomplishments was being named Wyoming’s “Public
Health Nurse of the Year’ In 1973. She served as Park County Public Health
Nurse for 28 years. In the early years she regularly visited the county’s
14 public schools, along with calls on many Park County homes, helping and
advising on all types of ailments.
She married Bill Feeley, who co-owned and operated Feeley Brothers Redi-Mix
in Cody. They were married for many happy years and raised three sons.
After Bill’s death in 1966, she met and married Hansen Murray in June
of 1972. They made their home on Green Creek in the Wapiti Valley. Marie retired
from nursing in 1979 so she and Hansen could spend their lives together, traveling
in their motor home, gardening, camping and entertaining friends.
Marie was a great friend to the elderly. She was on the original committee
that started the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), and she was
also a member of the group that started the Rolling Meals program in Cody.
She helped to develop what is now known as Cody’s Senior Center where
she served on the board for many years.
By appointment of the governor, she was a delegate to the White House Conference
on Aging and represented the council in Washington, D.C.
Marie had many hobbies, but little spare time. Besides her full-time nursing
job, she was also the bookkeeper for Feeley Brothers Redi-Mix. She belonged
to the Cody chapter of BPOE Does and served a term as president. She loved
to cook and garden and even tried her hand at sewing and quilting.
Very proud and devoted to her three sons, she rarely missed one of their sporting
events. She was dedicated and successful in everything she attempted. She worked
countless hours for what she believed in, spreading her wonderful humor, friendly
disposition and kind words for everyone. She was a giving person and leaves
behind many friends.
She is survived by her three sons, Bill (Joyce) Feeley, John (Pam) Feeley and
Ted (Lynn) Feeley, all of Cody; her brother, Joseph Ries of Powell; step-children,
Mike, Bruce and Lynn Murray and Audrey Painter; five grandchildren, Tiffani
Jackson, Cort Feeley, Heather Feeley and Wendy Glick, all of Cody, and Mandy
Barry of Laramie; and seven great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. For those who wish, the family would appreciate
memorials to the Cody Senior Center. Her family would like to invite friends
and loved ones to a reception following the service at the Sunset House in
Cody.
Elizabeth M. Lohrenz - September 17, 2005
Funeral Mass for Elizabeth M. Lohrenz, 84, was celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 20
at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Billings, Mont.
She died peacefully Saturday morning, Sept. 17 at St. John’s Lutheran
Home in Billings, where she had been a resident for the past several years.
Born May 1,1921, in Deaver, she moved to Billings after graduating from high
school to attend beauty college. After graduation, she worked at the Northern
Hotel until she married Victor Lohrenz on Nov. 14, 1946. Once married, she
stayed at home and cared for her children.
She later went to work at St. Vincent’s Hospital until she retired and
then continued to serve as a Pink Lady volunteer for several years. She was
a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for over 60 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandy (Shawn) Bettise of Billings; four sons,
Terry (Joyce) of Fishtail, Mont.; Tom (Judy) of South Jordan, Utah; Dick (Holly)
of Billings; and Don (Kim) of Billings; 15 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by two sisters, Theresa (Bob) Ewen of Billings and Virginia
(Harvey) Henry of Farmington, N.M.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by Victor, her husband of over 50 years; her mother
and father, Triphon and Marie Wambeke; two sisters, Marie and Katherine; and
two brothers, Tom and Emiel.
Elizabeth will be remembered for her ready smile and sense of humor.
Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American

Irma Mae Brown - September 27, 2005
Irma Mae Brown, 61, died Tuesday, Sept. 27 at her home in Powell.
She was born July 15, 1944, in Powell to Clayton and Elizabeth (Irwin) Brown.
She attended local schools and went on to pursue an education at Northwest
College and the University of Wyoming. She was an elementary teacher and
loved her many years in the classroom. Most of her teaching years were in
Frannie, and she also taught with military schools in the Philippines where
she was able to enjoy traveling in that part of the world.
Her hobbies included arts and crafts of many kinds. She loved her family and
enjoyed making special things for family, friends and neighbors, as well as
helping others around her.
Survivors include her mother, Elizabeth Brown, in the Powell Valley Care Center;
three brothers, Walter Brown and wife Judy, Jim Brown and wife Nancy and Lloyd
Brown, all of Powell; her sisters, Carol Christiansen and husband Ted of Powell
and Alice VandenBroek of Apache Junction, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clayton Brown.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at the First Methodist Church.

Marion "Buck" Harmon - September 28, 2005
Marion Harmon, better known as “Buck” to family and friends, died
Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the Powell Valley Care Center after a long bout with
cancer. He was 84.
He was born in Washington County, Mo., on Oct. 29, 1920, son of Arthur and
Mary Harmon. He served honorably in the U.S. Army Airborne during World War
II in Central Burma, China and India. During these battles and campaigns, he
was awarded two Bronze Stars for service to his country. After the war, he
married Eilene May Wheeler on Sept. 20, 1946, in Butte, Mont.
Buck and Eilene made their home in Powell for the last 58 years. After 30 years
with Amoco Production Co. working in the Elk Basin plant, Buck retired to his
family and small scale farming. He had many hobbies and activities, including
membership in the Powell Valley Saddle Club and the Big Horn Basin Foxtrotters
Association.
He enjoyed working on his farms, riding horses, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his loving wife, Eilene; one daughter, Betty Lou Mauch and
husband Melvin of Powell; his son, Randy Clifford Harmon and wife Gail of Nye,
Mont.; four grandchildren, Christi, Michelle, Chad and Tami; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Philip, Ben, Bill, Floyd and Vernie,
and one sister, Alice Loosmore.
Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 1 at the First Baptist Church in Powell.
Bill Greaham read the obituary and Pastor Jesse Sauskojus officiated.
Interment was at Crown Hill Cemetery. The pallbearers were Chad Harmon, Jeff
Greaham, Danny Wheeler, John Wambeke, Bruce Fauskee and Danny Flores. Three
honorary pallbearers were Bud Wheeler, Floyd Wheeler and Dick Baldwin.
Memorials can be made in Buck’s name and sent to Powell Valley Care Center
or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were handled by Thompson Funeral
Home.
Ernest Boyle - September 28, 2005
A memorial service was conducted Saturday, Oct. 1 in Casper for former Powell
resident, Ernest Boyle, 77, who died Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Wyoming Medical
Center in Casper.
He was born Oct. 23, 1927, in Cozad, Nebr., son of Nellie (Hunt) and Roy Boyle.
He was raised and educated in Powell and lived here for some 20 years.
He married Norma Lou Jones in Rock Springs on July 13, 1973. They lived in
Casper off and on for the last 25 years. He worked in oilfield trucking, and
was employed by Brinkerhoff, Black Hills Trucking, Reed Transportation and
L.L. Smith Trucking.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Norma in Casper; two sons and their
wives, Mike and Stephen, both of Casper; five step-children, Eldon Jones of
Cheyenne and Ken Jones of Rawlins and Connie Winkler and Frank and Milton Jones
of Colorado; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
