Gillette College women’s basketball team members escape serious injury

A bus driver and four members of the Gillette College women’s basketball team were transported to West Park Hospital in Cody Saturday night after the bus they were in collided with three cows and a power pole.

Old Man Winter still has a strong grip on Powell and the surrounding area, evidenced by an estimated 6-7 inches of snow dumped by another blizzard-like storm Tuesday night and Wednesday.

My daughter, Julie Cheatham, and her husband Warren lost their little cabin near Greybull when it was engulfed in flames just before noon on Wednesday, Dec. 28. But, by the grace of God, they and their five children are all safe and well.

Session will affect all state residents

Today is the first day of the 64th Wyoming Legislature, with opening ceremonies scheduled for noon in both the Wyoming House of Representatives and the Wyoming Senate. 

As an avid skier and photographer, Kathy Lichtendahl of Clark had an idea for a photo and story package she hoped to publish in a photography magazine sometime in the future.

But “sometime” came much faster than she expected.

Deep snow in the Cody area prompted a massive herd of antelope to migrate into the Whistle Creek area north of Emblem recently.

Jews throughout the world are celebrating Chanukah this week. This year, the eight-day observance coincided with Christians’ celebration of Christmas, beginning on Dec. 24 and ending on New Year’s Day. 

Continued high winds and blowing snow made some highways in Park County treacherous on Monday and Tuesday.

Around 4:45 p.m. Monday, a truck reportedly overturned about 4 miles south of Cody on Wyo. Highway 120.

One of the harshest winter storms in recent memory struck Powell and Cody late last week with a one-two punch.
