Several members of the Powell High School cross country program received season-end awards.

The Powell High School wrestling team competed in the Battle in the Big Horns Dual Tournament in Worland on Friday and Saturday, placing third with an overall 5-1 record.

Overcoming an early deficit, the Powell High School boys’ basketball team fought back to outlast Lovell in the final minutes of its home opener, winning 54-52 on Tuesday, Dec. 12.

In the first home game of the season, the Powell High School Lady Panthers basketball team beat Lovell 46-37 on Thursday.

Pushing their winning streak to five games, the Lady Trappers basketball team won two on the road last week, beating Williston State College, 82-38, and Dawson Community College, 70-58. The Northwest College women now have an overall record of 11-4 heading into the Christmas break.

Northwest College’s wrestling team traveled to Miami, Oklahoma, last week, splitting a pair of duals at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Friday.

Karst named outstanding varsity wrestler at home invite

Powell High School’s wrestlers opened their season with a victory at home, beating 19 other teams at the Powell Athletic Roundtable Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Twelve PHS wrestlers placed in the top six.

The Powell High School boys swim team started the season out strong at home in a triangular with Worland and Cody. Eight of the Panthers’ 16 swimmers posted state qualifying times — and they won nine of the 12 events on Friday.

A win over Douglas highlighted the Powell High School boys basketball team’s opening weekend in Cody.

NWC Lady Trappers go 2-0 at Big Horn Federal Shootout

Two recent wins put the Lady Trappers’ record at 9-4 — the best start to a season for the Northwest College women’s basketball program in at least 10 years.
