The NWC wrestling team beat Western Wyoming Community College 26-17 in a Friday dual that came down to the last match.

Northwest College men’s basketball beat both Bismarck State College and Rexburg United at last weekend’s First Bank of Wyoming Shootout. 

Trapper basketball fans may have noticed a familiar face peering back at them from magazine racks across the country this month.

The Powell Panther football team suffered a heartbreaking 28-10 loss to the Star Valley Braves for the 3A State Championship game on Friday in Laramie. Despite the score, Powell was in the running for a victory up until late in the third quarter, when Star Valley began pulling ahead.

Trapper basketball had a tough start to their season over the weekend, with the men’s team going 0-3 and the women’s team going 1-2.

The Northwest College wrestling team opened its season at the Cowboy Open in Laramie over the weekend, finishing third out of the 20 teams in its division. Three Trappers placed in a medal round.

Panther football team runs past Green River

Powell’s hard fought 27-10 victory over Green River on Friday came about late in the third and fourth quarters.

The H&G Foundation will host a fundraising benefit race for Jeff Matthews and his family at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Park County Fairgrounds. Proceeds from ticket sales, food and beverage purchases as well as other fundraising activities coinciding with the races will be donated to the Matthews family to help assist with medical costs. 

At last weekend’s Class 3A West Volleyball Tournament in Pinedale, Powell came up short of advancing to the state tournament, losing to Mountain View and Pinedale.

Northwest College’s wrestlers will kick off their 2016-17 season on Friday, being among some 30 teams competing in the 39th annual Cowboy Open in Laramie.
