NWC wrestles for experience, improvement in Great Falls

The Northwest College wrestling team picked up some wins and experience at weekend competitions in Great Falls, Montana.

The Lady Trapper basketball team rebounded from a Thursday loss to pick up a pair of wins on Friday and Saturday.

Panthers set to start seasons this Friday

This weekend kicks off Powell High School’s winter sports seasons — with both wrestling and boys swimming competing at home, the girls basketball team in Cody and the boys basketball team in Buffalo.

Overcoming injuries to a couple of key players, the Northwest College men’s basketball team reeled off three straight wins over the last week.

Team effort lifts NWC women’s basketball squad on Tuesday

Production from the entire lineup carried the Northwest Trapper women’s basketball team to a 63-46 win over the Rocky Mountain College JV Tuesday in Powell.

For 13-year-old Powell native Caden Gines, a lengthy season of bull riding will pay off with an appearance at next week’s Junior National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

Competing half-a-world away, Team USA got a boost from a former Wyomingite with local ties during the World Masters Athletics Championships.

Buck named 3A West Coach of the Year

A strong season for the Powell High School football team also netted plenty of individual awards.

Having completed a 24-3 junior varsity volleyball season, three sophomores were honored with year-end awards of most inspirational, most improved and most coachable.

Returning to his hometown high school court in Cody, Northwest Trapper freshman Blake Hinze tossed in 19 points to lead the NWC men to a 96-67 win  over the Game Gear all stars Saturday.
