William “Bill” Delph, 63, of Cody, died peacefully on July 24, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bill served in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. After leaving the service, he began his career in the trucking industry as a professional driver and later as a safety supervisor. He spent many years as a spokesperson and safety advocate for the trucking industry on a multistate and national level.
Bill lived his life to the fullest. He was in his first band while attending Deckerville, Mich., High School and remained a devoted classic country and cowboy musician and entertained at every opportunity.
Bill and his wife, Dale, moved to Cody in 2000 with their purchase of The Mayor’s Inn. Bill “retired” to begin a new career as the head chef at the bed and breakfast and dinner house. He especially loved being in parades, traveling, fishing, playing music with his friends and spending time with family and friends. With a quick laugh, great smile and big voice, he easily made friends wherever he went.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Dale; sisters, Henrietta (Tom) Ward, Carol (Dave) Blackburn and Joanne Fessell; and treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Eula Mae and Bill, and his brother, Rick.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5 at The Mayor’s Inn, 1413 Rumsey Ave. in Cody. Hats, boots and blue jeans welcomed.
