Cindy Marlene Dicks Wheelwright died Saturday, July 14, 2012, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 61.

She was born in Powell to Emet and Pearl Webb Dicks. She was raised and educated in Powell, graduating from Powell High School in 1969. She obtained an associate degree from Billings Business College and graduated from Ogden Barber and Beauty School.

She married her high school sweetheart, Rick Tanner, of Byron, and was welcomed with open arms by his parents Mel and Alice Dalton Tanner. 

Cindy and Rick were blessed with three children: Shadron Mel, Joel Emet and Chelsea Kaylene.

She later married the love of her life, Val Wheelwright, adding his three daughters, enjoying their 28 years of marriage and raising six children.

Cindy spent her working career as an office assistant, professional barber stylist and mother of six. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she enjoyed doing temple work and donating her time and talent as chior director, chorister and assistance programs for the ill and needy.

She was a member of the Ogden Eagles (FOE) Auxiliary for more than 35 years serving in every office up through president. She especially enjoyed helping with fundraising, charities and ritual competitions, her team being honored to win numerous state and regional competitions and making many new friends in Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.

Together with her husband, parents, brothers, sister-in law and Val’s parents Frances and Earl Rushmer, she enjoyed several trips and cruises to locations around the world.

Cindy enjoyed music, crafts, camping, traveling, playing cards and board games, and her two teacup poodles, but she most enjoyed spending time with her large extended family of family and friends. She was a “people person.”

She is survived by her children Shad (Liah), and Joel (Rheannon) Tanner; Chelsea Neal; Bobbi (Craig) Charlsworth; Jerilyn (Brett) Rockhill; and Regina (Joe) Faxon, all of Ogden, Utah; and brothers Dee (Vicki Faxon) and Hal (Barbara Guthrie) Dicks of Powell; together with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts uncles and cousins.

She was proceded in death by her father, mother, father-in-law-, mother-in-law, and brother Ken Franks Dicks.

Memorial services were held Friday. July 20 at the North Ogden 24th Ward Chapel, with interrment at Ogden cemetery, and a celebration of life at the Ogden Eagles (FOE) Lodge.
