Kyle “Waylon” Nix of Powell died Sunday, July 22, 2012, surrounded by loved ones. He was 45.

Kyle was born April 26, 1967 to Janet (Maxfield) and Myron Nix in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from Tooele High School and attended Utah State University. Kyle began working in the roofing business in his early 20s.

Kyle married the love of his life, Kapi Gormley, on Nov. 5, 1991, and became the proud father of Nate and Chase. Soon after, this loving family was made complete with the births of sons, Colt and Dillon.

Kyle and his family moved to Powell in 1997, where he started a Wyoming branch of Broken Arrow Construction.

Kyle is survived by his wife Kapi; sons Nate, Chase, Colt and Dillon; parents Janet and Myron Nix; brothers Steve (Stacy), Gary (Jaylene), and Roger (Julie); mother and father-in-law Janice and Scott Gormley; sister and brother-in-law Keli and Jason Borders; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many cherished friends.

Kyle never knew a stranger and would instantly become a dear friend to those blessed with knowing him. His passions included golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, the Denver Broncos, telling stories, stirring the pot, listening to and singing Waylon with his buddies, children of all ages, playing a good game of “Kyle Wins” and supporting his sons in all they were involved in.

Kyle was an avid supporter of youth sports in the area and donated time and money whenever called upon; including coaching USA Wrestling and his sons’ baseball teams. Memorial donations in Kyle’s name can be made to American Legion Baseball, P.O. Box 57, Powell, WY 82435.

Celebration of Kyle’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 25, at Jake Clark’s barn in Ralston, casual dress. Bring your own lawn chair and memories of good times spent with Kyle.
