Ronald Eugene Cooper, formerly of Powell, died Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Franciscan Hospice House in University Place, Wash. He was 81.

He was born June 10, 1931 in Independence, Mo.

While growing up in Independence, Ron was paperboy to President Harry S. Truman.  Ron was a veteran in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War era.

Ron is survived by his devoted wife of almost 60 years, Billie Cooper; his four children: daughter Teresa (Ken) Stratton, son Ron Cooper, Jr., daughter Pamela Battersby and son Mark Cooper; grandchildren Ashley Stratton Lauritzen of Powell, Randi, Kelsey, Alexandra, Brandon, Samuel, Nicholas; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations in Ron’s name can be made to the Franciscan Hospice House, 2901 Bridgeport Way W., University Place, WA, 98466-4631.
