(Sept. 5, 1940 - May 24, 2012)

Sue Johnson died May 24, 2012 at West Park Hospital in Cody after a prolonged battle with some health issues.

Sue was born Sept. 5, 1940 in Hackensack, N.J., the only child of Arthur and Mildred Spangenberg. After graduating from Rutherford, N.J., high school in 1959, she went to work at Pfizer, Inc. In early 1970 she met her future husband, Norman, and got married later that year on her birthday. They often vacationed in the U.S. west and on one of the trips they visited the Cody area and liked what they saw. Upon her retirement from Pfizer in 1994 they relocated on the South Fork and she quickly adapted to her new role of housewife and mother to three cats.

Sue was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cody and attended services when health permitted.

She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles, and a cousin, George Barlow.

Sue is survived by her husband, Norman, brother-in-law Don Johnson of Scottdsdale, Ariz., cousins Jim (Ellen) Hackbarth of N.C., and Bill Hackbarth of N.J.  Also surviving is a very special friend, Barbara English Bonadie, Cumberland, Md.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Park County Animal Shelter.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 12 at 11 a.m. at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody. An online guestbook is available at www.ballardfh.com.
