(June 12, 1930 – May 20, 2012)

Carl Henry Christopherson died Sunday, May 20, 2012, joining his beloved wife Kay who died less than five months before. He was 81.

Carl was born June 12, 1930, to Joseph and Coral May Christopherson in Meeteetse, the seventh of 16 children. He grew up on his father’s ranch and worked in the coal mines located on the property learning skills that he used throughout his life. Carl was a very likeable guy — in fact he received a trophy for “most popular” while attending high school. In 1952 he joined the Army serving in the Korean War.

Carl married the love of his life, Kay Saralie Lohrenz, in August 1954, and raised three children in Wyoming. Carl worked in several vocations including ranching/farming. His last but favorite job was owning and driving a semi truck for several years with his wife as a team. The couple moved to Shoshoni in 1995, calling it home for the remainder of their lives. They enjoyed writing songs and putting them to music. If you stopped by you would surely have the pleasure of listening to at least one of the songs.

Carl is remembered as a wonderful dad, granddad and great-granddad. He was a great mentor, always able to teach anyone if they would take the time to listen. He’s also remembered as a very strong willed man. He amazed doctors and his family by surviving heart attacks and other life threatening events over the past 30 years.

Carl was survived by his daughter Joni Kay (Roy) Prymek of West Jordan, Utah; son John Phil (Kelly) Christopherson of Cheyenne; son Carl Jeffrey (Martha) Christopherson of Salem, Ore.: his four grandchildren, John Carl (Cara) Schrage, Amelia Kay (Randy) Phetteplace, Samantha Saralie Christopherson and Christian Robert Christopherson; his brothers Myron Christopherson; Joseph Oscar Christopherson; Dan Christopherson; Rollin Christopherson; and his sisters Dahl Badura and Connie Cook.

Carl is preceded in death by wife Kay Christopherson; his parents and his brothers, Charlie, Orvin, Phil, Garth, Fred and Mark; his sisters, Roxie, Jessie, and Iris.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, at the Church of Latter-day Saints in Shoshoni.

Memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
