Vivian Joan (Myers) Boynton died Friday, May 18, 2012, at the West Park Long Term Care Center in Cody. She was 76.

Vivian was born in Greybull on July 24, 1935, to Scott and Hazel (Hodson) Myers. She grew up on their farm west of Burlington near the Greybull River and attended grade school at the Avent School.

During her high school years, Vivian enjoyed and was very active in many extra-curricular activities including band, choir, dance, and yearbook staff. She was a member of the Burlington High School class of 1953.

After high school, Vivian began her career working in Basin for a title and loan company. She later moved to Cody where she worked for Husky Oil Company during the 1950s. She enjoyed the excitement of travel and moved to Arizona where she met her husband.

Later on, Vivian and her husband moved to Australia for a few years, then back to Arizona in the mid 1960s when Lake Havasu City was being developed. In 1974 after her son Gene was born, Vivian moved to Billings, where she was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Vivian’s travels led her back to Cody where she continued her successful career performing many years of service with U.S. Government agencies including the Bureau of Reclamation, the Bureau of Land Management, and the U.S. Forest Service. She remained in Cody after she retired. Vivian also enjoyed her activities as a member of the Eagle’s Auxiliary.

In addition to her love of family and her wonderful sense of humor, Vivian is proudly remembered by her family and friends as the reigning rodeo queen in 1952 during the Greybull Days of ’49 celebration.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Scott Myers, her brother, Harry Allen, and two sisters, Wilma Renner and Dorothy Skeen.

She is survived by her son, Gene of Cody; brother, Harley Myers of Worland; sister-in-law, Harriette Allen of Greybull, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ballard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
