John ‘Jake’ Hildreth

John “Jake” Hildreth, 88, of Powell died at his home on Tuesday, April 17, 2012.

He was born on March 15, 1924, in Petersburg, Texas, to V.T. and Edna Hildreth. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star.

He married his wife, Frankie, in December 1947 in Buttonwillow, Calif. In 1949, they moved to Powell, where they had acquired a homestead on Heart Mountain. John spent his life doing what he loved most, which was farming.

Jake took great pride in maintaining the homestead he and his wife had worked so hard to develop.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie, in February 2010, parents and several siblings.

John is survived by his three children: Barry Hildreth of Denver, Colo., Ron Hildreth of Worland and daughter Karen (Bob) Elmer of Evanston; and grandson David (Wendy) Elmer, and Keaton Elmer of Casper.

In honoring Jake’s request, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
