Edward C. Faust, 80, of Lovell, died Monday, April 2, 2012, at the North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell following complications from a stroke he suffered in 2008.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 11, at 10 a.m. in the Pavilion at the Saratoga Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 10, from 5-7 p.m. at Rostad Mortuary in Rawlins.

Edward was born March 31, 1932, in Joliet, Ill., to Elizabeth (Elmore) and Edward C. Faust, Sr.

He attended school in Joliet until enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. On Jan. 22, 1958, in Tulsa, Okla., he married Betty Jewel Ames. They had four children together, three boys and one girl.

He moved to Wyoming in 1982, where he worked for the Forest Service until retiring in 1994. He had previously worked in timber, geological survey in Oklahoma, construction, the Arkansas State Parks, and various other occupations.

In 1992, he married Pat Payne, and together they operated The Place at 10-Mile until 1999. They then moved to the Big Horn Basin and were planning to once again make their home in Saratoga.

He attended the Music Conservatory in Joliet, Ill., studying trumpet. He was a self-taught guitarist, playing professionally with his love for gospel, jazz, and rhythym and blues. His hobbies included hound dogs, hunting, fishing, river guiding, and outdoor life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, LiLith, and a step-daughter, Linda Payne Pederssen.

Survivors include his wife, Pat, of Saratoga; sons Edward of Fayetteville, Ark., Steve of Springdale, Ark., and John of Ft. Smith, Ark.; daughter, Elise Palen of New York, N.Y.; grandsons Jared, Dustin and Zack; granddaughter Stephanie Henderson; two great-grandchildren; stepson, Bill Payne of East Prairie, Mo.; stepdaughters: Fran Payne-Rogers of Saratoga, Billie Jo (Steve) Fredericks of Schenectady, N.Y.; and their children: Stephanie, Bob and Will; and special friend, Joe Irene of Saratoga.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Saratoga Cemetery Board or the charity of your choice.
