Cheryl Celeste Urion, 68, of Laramie, died at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colo., Dec. 11, 2011.

She was born in Billings on April 26, 1943, the seventh child of Gladys North Urion and Loren D Urion. She was profoundly hard of hearing, and as a child attended the Montana School for the Deaf and Blind in Great Falls.

Her avocation was storytelling through cartoon-drawing and mime, and she loved to sing. She especially loved comedy and delighted family and friends with the complex slapstick routines she developed and presented. She went blind as a teenager and learned braille at the Royer-Greaves School for the Blind in Paoli, Pa.

She faced many daunting health challenges throughout her life. With the support of people at ARK Regional Services, she faced those challenges with remarkable courage.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Deryl and Dee Urion, her sister Lyn (Rod) Benningfield and brother-in-law Roger Sheely.

She is survived by friends at ARK Regional Services where she made her home since 1994; her sisters Audrey Sheely and Faith (Arthur) Tetrick; her sister-in-law Lois Urion; and her brothers Carl (Greta) and Veryn (Celia) Urion.

Cheryl also leaves friends from the times she lived in Denver, Billings, and Sheridan, Garland, Lander and Evanston. A memorial commemoration in Laramie is planned for later in the week, and interment of cremated remains will take place in Powell in the spring.
