Lorraine Isis Beaver, 83, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died from natural causes on Nov. 3, 2011, in her home at Scottsdale Village Square.

She was born Aug. 20, 1928, in Ralston, to Ben and Hazel Inghram. She attended schools in Montana, Washington, and Wyoming. Lorraine graduated valedictorian from Basin High School in Basin.

She married Billie G. Beaver on Oct. 20, 1946, in Billings. They were married 33 years and resided in Worland. Bill passed away in May 1979. One year later, Lorraine moved to Scottsdale, where she resided until the time of her death. She and Bill had fallen in love with Arizona during their many visits to the state and dreamed of one day retiring there.

Lorraine was an avid reader and took great pleasure in collecting and sharing books. Her desire to travel was enhanced by her favorite author, James Michener, and his factual descriptions of faraway places. She loved baseball and followed the sport all of her life. She had a great affinity for animals and frequented the Phoenix Zoo, keeping track of the new babies — especially the giraffes.

Lorraine is survived by her two children, Mickey (Robin) Beaver of South Jordan, Utah, and Marcia Beaver (Bob Sedar) of Mesa, Ariz.; grandson Torrey Voigt of Missoula, Mont.; and dear friends Nils Stansbury and Brian Davisson of Scottsdale.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill; Gertrude Webber (an aunt who raised Lorraine from infancy when her mother died during childbirth); brothers Alvin Inghram of Texas and Vance Larkin of Wyoming; and a sister, Katherine Jenkins, of Arizona.

In accordance with Lorraine’s wishes, her remains were cremated and no formal services are planned.
