Deloris Grace (Reed) Good died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at Powell Valley Hospital. She was 91.

Deloris was born Sept. 1, 1920 in Powell, to Anna Rose (Hartman) and Niles Adrain Reed. She attended Powell schools and one year of post-graduate courses.

On Sept. 5, 1941, she married Ernest Ray Good in Billings. The couple made their home on the West Willwood in Powell.

Deloris worked as a “Hello Girl” for Project Telephone Company, and as a homemaker and farm wife for 41 years.

She attended First United Methodist Church. Deloris was part of the Willwood Women’s Club, WSCS, UMW, Extension Club, Red Hat Society, Homesteader Museum and a Big Horn Basin Boat Club member.

Deloris enjoyed crocheting, needlework and baking, especially cookies and butterscotch rolls and pecan pies.

Coffee and cookies at 10 a.m. was a morning ritual at the Good home. Neighbors and family always knew they were welcome to stop in and, if lucky, would enjoy a hot butterscotch roll.

During harvest, Deloris took a hot breakfast to the crew in the fields. Even though she never cared for eating pie, she became quite the pie baker, especially pecan. She shared her love of donating many a pie to several charitable auctions and sales. And when a “thank you” or “just because” was in order, she was always there with her pecan pie.

She also enjoyed snowmobiling, four-wheeling, RVing throughout the United States, Alaska and Mexico and boating through the inland passage to Alaska with the couple’s 19-foot boat.

Deloris was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Good; daughter Karen  Lynn; brothers Wilbur and Clarence Reed; and parents Niles and Anna Reed.

She is survived by her son Kenny (Judy) Good of Powell; Peggy (Mel) Hawley of Powell; son-in-law Tom Lynn (husband of her deceased daughter Karen Lynn); sister-in-law Betty Reed (wife to deceased brother Clarence “Babe” Reed); seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Powell with Pastor Susan Adams-Trembath officiating. A viewing will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home.

Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be sent to First United Methodist Church or Lifeline — Powell Valley Healthcare.
