Glenn Robertson Lewis, 91, died on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011 at his home in Sandy, Utah from cancer.
Glenn was born July 5, 1920, at a sheep ranch “labor” house near Byron.
He was the third child of Edmund Elroy Lewis and Ellen (Ella) Robertson. Preceding him in death was his oldest brother Elroy, older sister, Veloy and younger sister, Elna. His youngest brother Mark currently lives in Cowley.
Glenn grew up in Cowley and graduated from the University of Wyoming. He married LeNore Bagley of Cheyenne, in the Logan Temple on July 21, 1944.
In World War II, Glenn served our nation as a second lieutenant in 1944. After the war, Glenn and LeNore moved to Powell in 1946, where he operated Glenn Lewis Accounting Office for nearly 40 years.
Glenn and LeNore were blessed with six children: David, Grant, JoEllen, Donald, Diane and Robert. Glenn was preceded in death by sons Robert (July 1962), Grant (February 1982), and David (November 2006), and his dear companion, LeNore (February 1988).
Glenn and LeNore moved to Sandy, Utah in 1984. After LeNore’s passing, Glenn married Jean Canning (Newswander) of Afton, in the Logan Temple on Feb. 4, 1989.
A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Glenn served in many responsible callings including ward Bishop, Temple Ordinance worker, and High Priest Group Leader. Glenn and Jean served three missions in the Salt Lake area.
Glenn’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Jean; three children; 22 grandchildren, and 46 great-grandchildren.
Glenn R. Lewis’ greatest knowledge was his testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
Services will be held in Sandy, Utah on Saturday, Oct. 8, at noon, at the LDS Canyon View Ward chapel, 9119 S 1300 E, followed by the graveside services at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held on Friday evening, Oct. 7 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State St, Midvale, Utah from 7-9 p.m. and another viewing will be held at 11 a.m. at the Canyon View Ward chapel on Saturday, Oct. 8.
