Linda Meyer-Gossens, 53, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, after a long and brave battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her home.
Linda was born on May 19, 1958 in Powell to Richard and Trudy Kober. She was raised and lived in Greybull most of her life.
She gave birth to her only daughter, Cristin, in 1978. Several years after the birth of her child, she enrolled in school at Northwest Community College where she graduated with a 4.0 GPA and an associate’s degree.
Her career path started with the Town of Greybull as the town clerk treasurer and ended as the business manager at the School District in Basin. Linda was an accomplished professional and earned many awards for her achievements, including Clerk Treasurer of the Year.
Linda was a loving wife, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many. Her life was filled with joy and accomplishments.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Ty Gossens; daughter, Cristin (Trevor) Smith; sons, Blaine and Nathan Gossens; grandson, Trysten Smith; father, Richard “Dick” Kober; brother, Mark (Virginia) Kober; brother, Rick (Lynn) Kober; and brother, David Kober.
Helping others was a passion and joy for Linda. She sponsored a child through World Vision for many years. One of her final wishes was that a donation be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in her honor. Donations may be made at Big Horn Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 471, Greybull, WY 82426.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 21 Highway 30, in Basin on Friday, Sept. 2, with Pastor Dave Seratt officiating.
