Mathilda I. Nigg died Wednesday, July 20 at Powell Valley Care Center. She was 85.
Mathilda was born Aug. 23, 1925 in Chicago, Ill., to Joseph and Mathilda (Bruder) Lencioni. She graduated high school in 1942. On Aug. 28, 1944 she married John R. Nigg Jr., in Meridian, Miss. They lived in Chicago, Emmett, Idaho, in 1975 and moved to Powell in 1988.
Mathilda was a housewife and loved sewing, gardening and reading, as well as spending time with her granddaughter, Jennifer.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John Jr., and a son, John III.
She is survived by daughter Barbara (John) Koch of Powell and granddaughter Jennifer Anne Koch, of Powell.
Private family graveside services were held on July 25. Interment of cremains at Crown Hill Cemetery of both Mathilda and her husband John, who died in 2008, were both done at that time.
