Marie Schneider Scheeler

Marie Scheeler died Friday, June 3, 2011. She was 102.

Marie was born in Lincoln, Neb. on April 23, 1909 to John and Elizabeth Fructling Schneider. In 1911 the family moved to Kane, Wyo., where Marie grew up attending school in Kane and Lovell.

On Dec. 12, 1927 Marie married George Scheeler in Red Lodge, Mont. They began farming in Kane, purchasing various parcels of land while raising three sons, George Robert, Charles, and Herbert. In 1949 they purchased the North Star Ranch where they made their home until 1965 when the Yellowstone Dam Project took their land.

Marie and George then relocated to Lovell. While in Lovell, Marie worked in the Tare House at the Great Western Sugar Factory for many campaigns.

Marie is survived by one son, Herbert (Wilma); nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband George, parents John and Elizabeth Schneider, brothers Harry and John Schneider, sister Leta Robertson, sons George Robert and Charles, and granddaughter Toreasa Scheeler.

Viewing/visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 8 at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lovell. Burial will be in the Lovell Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Lovell Meals-On-Wheels or The New Horizon Care Center.
