Nadine Ann Lindshield died Thursday, May 19, 2011. She was 75.
She was born on July 9, 1935 in Rockford, Ill., the only daughter of George Everett and Alice Everett.
She grew up in Rockford, where she went to college and studied music and occupational therapy at the University of Illinois.
While at the university she met Donald Lindshield, of Lindsborg, Kan. She married Donald on Feb. 7, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockford, Ill.
They moved to various towns in the Midwest as Donald got a job with Western Sugar Company. While she was mostly a homemaker, she did work for a time as a manager of a savings and loan in Fort Lupton, Colo., and when she moved to Powell in 1985, she worked part-time at McGlathery’s Greenhouse. Don and Nadine built their dream house in Powell in 1986.
People in Powell know their home due to the beautiful displays of flowers during the spring and summer. Her passions in life were her family, music, baseball and flowers.
While they moved quite a bit following Don’s job with the sugar company, she had to set up new households and get her two children acclimated to new schools. She loved watching her two sons as they participated in the many sports programs of high school.
Upon Don’s retirement, she stepped into the role of grandmother where she continued to watch her granddaughter on the Powell swim team. She and Don also traveled extensively throughout the world during retirement. While she devoted her life to the Lutheran church, she was also a member of P.E.O., loved playing the violin, reading mystery novels, playing cards and gardening.
Her parents preceded Nadine in death. She is survived by her husband Don of Powell; sons Thor of Fromberg, Mont., Erik of Long Beach, Calif.; granddaughter Nicole (Aaron) Wisroth; and great-grandson Keagan Lindshield.
Memorial services for Nadine are scheduled for Tuesday, May 24 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church at 3401 Sheridan Avenue in Cody, with Pastor Audrey
Rydbom officiating.
Burial will be at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell.
Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Cody or to a charity of your choice.
