(June 2, 1963 - May 18, 2011)

A devoted mother, loving wife and beloved friend to many, Kimela Sue (Lofink) Asay died Wednesday, May 18 at her home in Powell. She was 47.

Kim was born June 2, 1963 in Alliance, Neb., the daughter of LaVerne and Peggy Lofink.

On Sept. 3, 1983, Kim married the love of her life, Michael Rodney Asay. The couple made their home in Forsyth, Mont., Worland and Powell, where they raised their family at their Willwood home.

Her greatest joy in life was her three sons, Klayten, Kanin and Kaleb. She adored her children, and raising them was her life’s passion.

Kim was so excited to meet her first grandchild, Kasen, who is due in September.

Above all, Kim loved the Lord, and in this time of sorrow, her family takes comfort knowing she is with her loving savior Jesus.

Kim loved animals and had a natural talent with them. A skilled horsewoman, Kim loved to ride and worked as a horse trainer.

Blessed with creativity beyond belief, Kim was artistic and enjoyed anything unique.

She was a hard worker and dedicated to everything she set out to do, always inspiring those around her to do their very best. She also challenged her friends and family, telling them, “Don’t whine, and don’t be a wimp.”

Kim also loved practical jokes.

She also had a unique green thumb — Kim could throw a pack of seeds on dry dirt and grow a beautiful garden.

Kim was active in the American Quarter Horse Association, Wyoming Cutting Horse Association and Montana Cutting Horse Association.

Kim was preceded in death by family members Ray Bower, Pam Schaffer, Jerry Asay, Albert Lofink and Elvera Lofink.

She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Mike; her beloved sons, Klayten, Kanin (Sydney) and Kaleb; her parents, LaVerne and Peggy Lofink; mother-in-law Evelyn Asay of Ralston; brother Brad Lofink of Thermopolis and his children, Baeley, Rayann, Makayla and Elizabeth; sister Stephanie Lofink of Torrington and her children, Tiphanie and Brittanie; brother-in-law Harold Bumgaurdner; and many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22 at the Asay’s family residence with Kurt McNabb officiating.

Pallbearers are Klayten Asay, Kanin Asay, Kaleb Asay, Brad Lofink, LaVerne Lofink. Honorary pallbearers are J.R. Vezain, Jarred Ford and Dusty Tuckness.
