Former Powell resident Marie Hanebury died April 15 at the Billings Hospice House with her family by her side. Marie was 99 years old.

Marie was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.

When her husband, Raymond, died in 1977, she began living a nomadic life moving to several states and living at times with her daughter, and at times with her son.

She also had her own apartments from time to time, having one in Powell kept her close to her daughter and son-in-law, Joanie and Mitch Davison, and step grandsons, Josh and Tyler.

Marie enjoyed living near the mountains, loved the wildlife and horses, spending time on Mitch and Joanie’s farm, and taking long walks around town.

In her later years, she lived with her son, Louis and his family in Billings. Marie was pretty amazing, having stayed active until just a few weeks before her passing.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Billings.

Cremation has take place. She will then be taken back home to New York and placed to rest beside her husband, Raymond, at the Long Island National Cemetery.
