Billy Ray Smith died March 31 at his residence in Powell. He was 75.

Billy was born Sept. 11, 1935 in Texas to John and Goldie Harris Smith. He received schooling through the eighth grade. He married Nellie Jean Jones on Nov. 20, 1958, in Cody. They were later divorced. Billy was a water well driller by trade, and owned his own business. He loved to cook, fish, hunt and go camping, as well as growing a garden. His travels included visiting family in California, Texas and Florida and doing the things he loved.

Billy was preceded in death by sisters Mary Brunner, Ruth Coons, Dorothy Perkins, and brothers Jimmy Don Smith and Earl Smith.

He is survived by sons Jerry (Tracey) of Deaver, Ray (Patty) of Floral City, Fla., Tod of Wyoming, Rex Canida of Memphis, Texas; daughters Eva (Shawn) Brown of Meridian, Idaho; brothers Buddy, J.M. and Eddie; sister Betty Jean Fowler of Texas; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 8 at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with visitation from 1-2 p.m. Pallbearers will be Jerry Smith, Ray Smith, Tod Smith, Brandon Smith, Brandon Gould and Ralph Miller. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
