Howard K. Branstetter, 69, died of cancer on April 29, 2010, at his home in Chugiak, Alaska.

Howard was born July 20, 1940, in Powell, and resided there until he moved to Alaska in 1972.  He was a retired teamster truck driver.

He served in the Army from 1959-1961 and received an honorable discharge.

Howard died peacefully at home.

He is survived by his wife, Vera, of Chugiak; daughter Marian Lord of Austin, Texas; sons Tracy Branstetter of Wasilla, Alaska, and Wayland Branstetter of Anchor Point, Alaska; grandsons,Trevor Branstetter of Wasilla, and Landon Branstetter of Anchor Point; sisters, Marian Branstetter of Ohio, Patty Stots of Ohio, Bonnie Ahlstrom of Minnesota, Sharon Kush of Oregon and Susan Lane of Wyoming.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Selma Courtney, and a brother, Glenn Branstetter.

Memorial services will be at a later date. His cremated remains will be inurned at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
