Doris “Dottie” Elaine Jennings died Nov. 26, 2009 at her home in Powell.

She was born Jan. 21, 1929 in Miami, Fla., the daughter of Clara (Lewin) and Edward Wolf. She graduated from Anacostia High School in Washington, D.C.

Dottie had lived in Powell since 1986, when she relocated to be near her daughters and grandchildren. Through the years she worked at Powell Valley Hospital, Northwest College, the Department of Family Services and the Senior Center. She enjoyed working with the elderly, and that led her to establish a senior citizen outreach program. Through the program, she visited and spent time with local shut-ins in their homes.

Dottie was a caring and generous person who held a special place in her heart for animals and supported many charities, ranging from animal shelters to numerous veterans’ organizations.

Dottie was beloved by her children and grandchildren, who knew her as “Grammy.”

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara Barnett.

She is survived by her sons Richard Keckler (Gail) of Dacula, Ga. and Steven Keckler (Jane) of Walkersville, Md.; daughters Patricia Foley (Terry) and Linda Stickerod (Dave), both of Powell; brother Marvin Wolf of Glendale, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. According to her wishes, a private family memorial will be held at the top of the Beartooths next summer.

Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.thompsonfuneral.net.
