Charles “Bud” Cline, 97, died Nov. 20 at Powell Valley Hospital.
He was born Nov. 18, 1912 in Hume, Mo., the son of Bertha (Epperson) and Jesse Cline. His family settled in Ralston during the Great Depression.
He attended three years of high school and later joined the U.S. Army, where he served in North Africa and Italy.
He married Lillian Ravndal on Oct. 2, 1948 in Billings. The couple lived in Emblem, where Bud farmed for 33 years. He also spent time as a carpenter in Houston, Texas. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Bud and Lillian moved to Powell in 1980, where they joined the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Bud enjoyed golf, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was known for his love of life and his sense of humor.
Bud is survived by his wife, Lillian, of Powell; sons Brian Cline (Susan) of Orlando, Fla., Jim Cline (Bill Sorenson) of San Francisco, and Roy Cline (Carol) of Seattle; daughter Bonnie Lake of Casper; brother Cecil Cline of Powell; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Bertha Cline; brothers Orville and Bob Cline; and his sister Velma Sivey.
Funeral services will be Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Wizroth officiating. Eric Mapp, Sean Cline, Dubb Mapp and Kasey Mapp will serve as pallbearers. The men of Immanuel Lutheran Church are the honorary pallbearers. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
