Inez (Claudson) Burns

Inez (Claudson) Burns, 86, died Oct. 25 at Autumn Care in Billings.

She was born in Stapleton, Neb. on April 8, 1923 to Everett and Maude Claudson. She moved to Wyoming with her family in 1937 where they homesteaded on the Willwood. She graduated from Powell High School.

On Nov. 20, 1942 she married Ernest Burns. Two daughters were born to this union. They farmed on the Willwood and later bought a farm in Burlington. After a few years, they sold the farm and moved back to Powell. Inez drove the Star mail route for 24 years. She was a beautiful seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderfull story teller and loved teaching children in Child Evangelism Fellowship and Sunday School. She also enjoyed cooking and entertaining guests. Inez and her husband were long-time members of the Church of the Nazarene in Powell.

Inez is survived by two daughters, Sandra Pierce (Calvin) of Billings and Karen Grundhauser of Lovell; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2006; her parents; three brothers and her sister.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is being planned for Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Powell. A memorial fund has been established, and donations in Inez’s name can be sent to Child Evangelism Fellowship of Alaska, 355 Endicott Drive, Soldotna, AK 99669.
