Gary Wayne Nicholson died Sunday, Oct.11.

He was born March 1, 1939 in San Bernardino, Calif., the son of Kay MacDonald and Carl Nicholson. When he was eight years old, Gary's family moved to Billings.

In 1958, he graduated from Billings Senior High and attended the University of Montana. On Dec. 27, 1958, Gary married his high school sweetheart, Janet (Mook) Nicholson. He was drafted in 1962 and served eighteen months in Germany with the U.S. Army. Also, in 1962 Gary and Janet had a son, Jeffery. Their daughter, Jill, was born in 1972.

Gary worked for MDU for 38 years and retired in 1997. He also worked for First Student for four years and most recently was a bus assistant for District 2.

Gary enjoyed hunting, shooting guns, fishing and, most especially, riding his motorcycle through the Beartooth Mountains.

Gary attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Billings for many years, and New Life Church of Powell had been his church home for the past five years. He was involved with the jil ministry in Billings, sharing God's love with the inmates. He also was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.

Gary enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and he cherished his three granddaughters, Sierra, Madison and Sophe.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Nicholson; mother and step-father Kay and Don MacDonald; and his grandparents.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Janet, of Billings; son Jeffery Wayne Nicholson of Laurel; daughter Jill Morrow (Tim Morrow) of Powell; and three granddaughters, Sierra, Madison and Sophe, also of Powell.

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 15 at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary in Billings, with inurnment following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Michelotti-Sawyers is in charge of arrangements.
