Former Ten Sleep resident Cynthia Elizabeth “Beth” Forshee, 83, died Oct. 6 at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Beth was born Feb. 11, 1926 in Golden, Colo., to Nathaniel and Anna (Bolejack) Weddle.
She spent her early years in the Denver area, graduating from Mile High Academy. Following high school she attended Union College in Lincoln, Neb., where she received her teaching degree. During this time she also met her future husband, Leonard Forshee. They married in 1947. The couple then returned to Colorado where they both taught school for several years. They were also busy with ranching and construction.
Beth later went to work for Dr. Thurston in Craig, Colo., and she felt the need to further her education in the healthcare profession. She attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colo. to get her nursing degree. She then returned to Craig and continued working for Dr. Thurston for many more years.
The family relocated to Evening Shade, Ark. in 1973 where they lived for almost 30 years. Beth moved to Wyoming in 2003 to be closer to family, and she lived in Ten Sleep for a short time. She then moved to Powell, and later to an assisted living facility in Cody, before moving to Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation two months ago.She enjoyed reading and loved animals of all kinds. She also knitted and grew a large garden while she was raising her family. She also loved flowers and was very involved in her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Mark; and a sister, Ruth Swena.
Beth is survived by two sons, Frank Forshee of Hyattville and Norman Forshee of Henderson, Ark.; daughter Shelly Braxton (Bobby) of Lynchburg, Va.; brother Jeff Weddle of Fallon, Nev.; and grandchildren Misty Forshee, Nathan Forshee (Adrienne), Jenny Sodders, Sarah Sodders-Riner, Megan Sodders, Andrew Kirby and Beau Nelson; and great-grandchildren Caden and Wyatt Bolken, Kruze Forshee, Dylan Rowlett, Allen and Alycia Watson, Heaven Riner and Ronnie Riner, Jr.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Worland with Pastor Regan Scherencel officiating. Burial of the ashes will take place at a later date in the Powell Chapel Cemetery in Evening Shade, Ark.
