Donna Jean Olson Skinner, 66, died suddenly at her home in Cody on Aug. 20, 2009.

She was born on Dec. 2, 1942 in Alhambra, Calif. to Vernon Dale and Helen Edith Olson. She was the second of four children. Because of the transient nature of the times, she grew up in Baldwin Park, Calif., Eagle Mountain Mine, Calif., and Rosendale, Minn., before her family settled in Rembrandt, Iowa.

Donna later moved to Laramie, where she met David Duane Skinner. They were married on June 25, 1966. In 1967, they moved to Powell, where they raised three children. Donna and David enjoyed the company of one another in the great Wyoming outdoors — hiking, camping, fishing, and just being together. Donna never stopped learning throughout her life, and she enjoyed passing her love of learning and life to her children and grandchildren. She was a talented artist and loved to paint the animals and scenery of Wyoming.

Donna is survived by her husband, David; children Derrek Duane Skinner (Jody), Tasha Ann Skinner-Hebert (Jason Hebert) and Laura Renee Doles (Kurt); three siblings, Shirley Lee Westcott (Al) of Iowa City, Iowa, Ted James Olson (Jeanie) of Louisville, Ken. and Thomas Alan Olson (Carol) of Vashon Island, Wash.; and four grandchildren, Emilie, Chase, MyKenzie and Dysen Skinner.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Kyle Christopher Skinner.

A memorial service was held Monday, Aug. 24 at Wayfarer’s Chapel, east of Yellowstone Park. The family requests that friends plant a tree in her memory.
