Former Powell resident Lois Reavis died April 3 of COPD at her daughter’s home in Bonney Lake, Wash. Lois was born Feb. 21, 1926 in Clovis, Calif., to Iva (Antilla) and Lawrence Root. She was raised in California and lived in several town there, including Auberry, Shaver, Clovis, Lindsay and Salinas.

In 1995, she moved to Wyoming to live near her daughter, Karen, and her family. In 2001, they all moved to Powell, where she enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to fish and to go for rides to see the countryside. Reading and crocheting were two of her passions. She cherished her many visits from her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In Oct. 2008, during the final stages of COPD, she moved to the Powell Valley Care Center. From that point, she had a single goal, a “last wish,” to spend her final days with her daughter, Cindy, in Bonney Lake, Wash.  Because of the dedicated care she received at Powell Valley Care Center, she was able to accomplish that goal. Cindy granted her last wish, and she made the long journey on Feb. 28, 2009. She was able to see the beautiful countryside one last time, and she cherished her special time with Cindy.

On April 3, with her daughters Cindy and Karen at her side, she peacefully went to rest with God. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister and many family members, as well as others who had a chance to know her.

She is survived by daughters Margaret Darr (Larry) of Savannah, Mo., Karen Sellars (Eric) of Powell, Cindy Slusher (Mike) of Bonney Lake, and Lisa Wilson; sister Doris Bryant (Jim) of Carson City, Nev.; grandchildren Doug and Brian Stamper, Ellen Lesher, Joshua and Nicholas Cummings and Krystal and Katie Wilson; great-grandchildren Brodie and Rylee Lesher and Haley Stamper and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

A memorial will be held at a later date in Carson City, Nev. Donations can be made to a charity or church of one’s choice.
