Andrew Robert “Andy” Aagard died March 26 at his home in Auburn, Wyo. He was born March 14, 1985, in Afton, the third child of Rick and Julie (Hopkin) Aagard.

Andy loved the outdoors and spend many hours with his older brother and sisters exploring and enjoying nature. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler and motorcycle, and in September 2008, he spent a week riding up the California coast with his father and brother, Adam. With the abundant snow in Star Valley, he also enjoyed snowmobiling, and for the last several years he snowboarded at the ski resorts around his home town.

Andy graduated from Star Valley High School in 2003, where he participated in football. He kept himself in shape by lifting weights, and as a sophomore, he broke a school record by lifting 640 pounds in the dead-weight lift. His strength earned him the nickname of “Ox.” He used his great physical shape to his advantage by joining his father in the building, remodeling and furniture refinishing business. He also became adept at plumbing and electrical wiring.

Andy was a member of the Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held several positions within the church at the time of his death.

He is survived by his parents, Rick and Julie; brother Adam of Rocklin, Calif; sisters Allyson Major (Brandon) of West Jordan, Utah, and Amy, who is serving a mission in San Bruno, Calif.; grandparents Burchell and Ruby Hopkin of Powell and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were held at the Meadows Ward Chapel in Auburn on March 31, with Bishop Ballard Johnson conducting. Burial followed in the Auburn Cemetery.
