John William Johnson, 84, died Feb.16 in Austin, Texas. He was born in Sheridan, on Oct. 6, 1924 to Jay and Marguerite Rose Johnson. He graduated from Sheridan High School in 1942. He served in World War II in the 273rd Infantry from 1943-1946. John graduated from the University of Wyoming and then obtained a Master's Degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois. He spent his entire career with Shell Chemical Company.

John married Dorothy Louise (Dottie) Larsen of Powell, and they lived in Woodbury Heights, N.J. and then in Houston. After Dottie’s death, he married Sylvia Byler. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren and was always happiest trout fishing in Wyoming.

Survivors include his daughter D'Ann Johnson of Austin and son Douglas Johnson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; brothers Charley Johnson of Las Vegas and George Johnson of Sheridan; brother-in-law Buzz Larsen of Powell, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dottie in 1976, and his second wife, Sylvia Byler in 2007. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Janis Johnson, his brother Harry, and his sisters Barbara Burkhardt and Anna Wyatt.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at noon on Saturday, March 28 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell. Condolences may be sent to D'Ann Johnson, 1604 E 11th Street, Austin, Texas 78702.
