Paul “Curly” Young

Paul “Curly” Young, 82, died Monday, Jan. 5 at New Horizon Care Center in Lovell, with his family by his side.

He was born in South Bend, Ind., on Nov. 20, 1926, to George and Carrie Young. The family moved to Idaho in 1937 and then to Wyoming in 1939. He spent the next 70 years as a resident of Powell.

Curly worked as a cement contractor, overhead door mechanic and hunting guide. He enjoyed spending time with this family, as well as hunting, fishing and cooking. He sold Christmas tress in Powell for many years, and he also worked at the Park County Fairgrounds.

Curly served with the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 26 and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was instrumental in getting the Veterans’ Administration clinic started in Powell.

Curly is survived by a special companion, Eleanor Hofer of Laurel, Mont.; daughters Melanie Reidle of Rock Springs and Judy (Dale) Lambert and Rhonda (Brian) Sagrilla, all of Powell; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters Maxine Ferren and Norma Slater, both of Powell, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at the Multipurpose Building at the Park County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m. Donations can be made to New Horizon Care Center in Lovell. Cremation has taken place.
