Lifelong Alaskan and Kenai resident Anastasia Cheyanna Mae Trenton died Wednesday, Oct. 22 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Kenai. She was 17.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai. Rev. Bryan Copenhaver will officiate. Viewing will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Kenai Cemetery.
She was born Mar. 29, 1991 in Soldotna. She was a senior in Kenai Alternative High School. She was also a member of the Native Village of Tyonek.
“Anastasia was a very loving person who cherished her family and friends. She was one of five girls, and the youngest of six siblings. Because all of her sisters and brother were grown, Anastasia was especially close to her friends. She was a true friend and would do anything she could to help. Anastasia enjoyed going on adventures and joking with her friends. Anastasia loved her nieces and nephews and always wanted to spend time with them. The birth of a new baby in the family was a most exciting time for Ananstasia, and she was sure to spread the word and take plenty of pictures. Next to children, animals were Anastasia’s second love, and she spent many hours at the animal shelter visiting its residents. If given the opportunity, there is no doubt Anastasia would have adopted every animal who needed a home,” her family said.
She is survived by her mother, Billie Marhenke of Kenai; father, Harry Trenton of Kenai; sisters, Shannon McIntyre of Las Vegas, Nev., Zee Berg of Kenai, Teya Tietje of Puyallup, Wash., and Sonay Laxson of Kenai; brother, Rhys Durham of Powell; nieces, Kyla Wood of Billings, Mont., Teya Durham of Kenai, Alyssa Durham of Elizabeth City, N. C., and Zaree Warren of Puyallup, Wash.; nephews, Bryan Berg of Kenai, Terry Durham of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Stehnner Warren of Puyallup, Wash.; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Anastasia was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rex and Joan Marhenke of Powell, David Trenton of Nikiski, Alas., cousins, Ted Kroto of Nikiski and Adam Kroto of Tyonek and her aunt, B.K. Kroto of Nikiski.
The family prefers memorial donations be given to AlaskaUSA Federal Credit Union, acct. #1424688.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
